I was not a very memorable child. Really. I don’t think I have ever done anything so miraculous that it merits mass memories.
I was in this one children’s choir program – “Down by the Creek Bank” – and let me just tell you. I had the solo everyone wanted.
“Germs, Germs My Invisible Dog”
I still remember some of the lyrics. It was a big deal. My costume consisted of a white tshirt and jeans, and I even got to wear a bra.
The day of the show I was sick as a dog. Everyone thought it was nerves but I think it was a virus. Regardless, I sang that song. No one was taking my spotlight.
I sang it and then I walked offstage and ralphed.
I don’t know if anyone else remembers that, but I do.
